Lenovo IdeaPad S205 AMD Fusion Notebooks

                    Lenovo releases its IdeaPad S205 series notebook powered by AMD’s Fusion platform. The S205 11.6-inch notebooks are powered by AMD’s Fusion E350 application processor with ATI Mobility Radeon 6310 graphics. They have a 11.6-inch 1366×768 LCD display with integrated webcam.

                    Three models are available, the S205-103827U model with 3GB RAM and 320GB hard drive; the S205-103829U with 4GB RAM and 500GB drive; and the S205-103828U with 4GB of memory and 750GB hard drive. They all support WiFi connectivity and the S205-103828U model adds Bluetooth 2.1 support. A 6-cell battery is included.

          The prices are $499 for S205-103827U, $579 for S205-103828U and $599 for S205-103828U.

                        Toshiba introduces its new Satellite L600 series notebook line, which includes four model clasess, the highly-mobile Satellite L635 with 13-inch display, the lightweight Satellite L645 with a 14-inch diagonal display, the versatile Satellite L655 with a 15.6-inch diagonal display and the Satellite L675 desktop replacement with a 17.3-inch diagonal display.


                         These Satellite notebooks are powered by a wide range of Intel and AMD processors, including Intel Core i3/i5 and AMD Athlon II, Turon II, Phenom II processors. They have up to 4GB of RAM and 250GB-500GB hard drive. Also included are LED-backlit display, webcam, DVD drive and WiFi connectivity.

This notebook includes up to 4GB RAM, Intel GMA integrated graphics, built-in 1.3 megapixel web camera, two USB 2.0 ports, eSATA port, HDMI, VGA port and 4-in-1 memory card reader. Users can add up to 128GB SSD for storage of which 16GB would rest on the tablet. We think this is great as whenever one wishes to type, the tablet can be attached again to the notebook and used.

Lenovo IdeaPad U1 Hybrid has features of multi-touch tablet and notebook, both incorporated in one. Weighing 1.72kgs, IdeaPad U1 Hybrid has 11.6-inch touchscreen and sports Qualcomm's Snapdragon processor and 512MB RAM. When detached from the notebook, this display acts as multi-touch display tablet running customized Linux Kernel based interface dubbed Skylight. Lenovo claims that the tablet itself will have battery life of 6 hours and 3G Networks based web-surfing will stoop the battery life down to 3 hours. The tablet can be used in landscape as well as portrait mode.

OLPC is an acronym for 'One Laptop per Child '. A few years ago, Nicholas

Negroponte, fouder of the MIT Media Lab, was on a trip to Africa. During
his stay there, he was inspired to create a new learning experience for
the children of Africa. Thus the idea of the 'low-priced laptop' came into
existence. These laptops would offer more than just education to the kids. It
would not only open gates to a whole new world but also help them come
up with innovate ideas. This could open new doors for children to explore
and interact with the outside world. Thus the most important goal of
OLPC is to provide a medium through which children can learn, explore,
and express themselves. As an initiative, these laptops would be
provided by the government in schools. Each laptop would run on a Linux
based operating system with 256MB of DRAM, dual mode display with 7.5'
diagonal TFT LCD screen 1200 x 900 amd a Wi-fifi Mesh to introduce the
children to networking.
